Obinna Ugwu#hobbies—4:55transcripttap a line to jump0:00okay we're live so this is a continuation from the previous clip we're talking about0:04fire financial independence and early retirement um yeah i think i made a typo in the description0:13i'm going to edit it after this but now we segued into talking about hobbies and why it's important0:18to have hobbies especially as young people with very structured and rudimentary careers0:24and obina is someone i know has lots of hobbies we share a few of them in common so do you want to0:31talk about like what having hobbies has done for your mental health and how that has just elevated0:36your experience overall yeah so i read one article one time i'll look for it and i will forward it to0:43you but it basically projected how much time we have left but it did it by representing years on0:50a page by dots so each year was a dot and then it showed like how much time you have left to spend0:57with your parents how much time i feel like i know this article is a program ah this wasn't program but1:04i wouldn't be surprised if program wrote something similar to program wrote something similar i can1:09find it so it was a very good piece of visualization the headline um is that you don't have as much time1:18as you think right so if you're thinking along the lines of life is too short enjoy your life the1:25question then becomes into this increasingly uh chaotic and isolating work environment for young1:33people how do you break out of your routine and secondly do you recognize that breaking out of1:41your routine is important for your health because when people think of obvious sometimes they think1:47i mean i'm going to work i'm tired blah blah i just want to chill after work um but actually1:54your day-to-day routine kills you like because you have less dopamine yes that's part of it the2:01other is the impact on your mental and physical health like doing the same thing again and again and2:08again without like pushing new experiences stimulation without seeing new people is not good um for2:14your health long term so that is where obvious um coming there's also a host of other reasons for2:20why you should do obvious but um we can go into them later what was your question only is here2:25has a question so my question is you know how like when you do um pe stuff where like you're taking2:35your health seriously they recommend like doing routine things like eating safe food every day2:41like do the same exercise every day does this apply to what you're talking about i think my next2:47question is that would be how sustainable is that yeah so that's a good question so those type of things2:52there are things that you should do for your well-being um and they are different from um the routine2:59that i'm talking about the routine i'm talking about are things that don't necessarily um add or more3:06add to your physical health for example working eight hours a day at a desk yeah and living a sedentary3:14lifestyle and not like um doing more physically like that's a bad that's a routine to break out of3:22however eating salads every day um with protein and a decent amount of carbs is good even if you're3:30eating the same thing so and i i even dare say that for you to sustainably do that over a long period of3:35time people have cheat days for a reason it's still like stimulating you yeah exactly continue to go on3:42that particular path i think my question that my my question then to you would be what do you have to3:46say to people that don't know where to start in terms of yeah figuring out their hobbies good you read3:51you read the internet you find things so i have i have done that and i will just give you some3:57that i have found yeah i watched the video you can link it later if possible yeah but yeah like4:05different classifications of hobbies that you can use this particular video i liked it because it was4:12kind of all-encompassing she focused on that's the the person that made the video focused on4:18four types of hobbies four broad types creative hobbies intellectual hobbies well-being hobbies and4:24connection hobbies so you need a little bit of everything to make it all well-rounded life4:30something to take you out of you're not a routine that you are supposed to be so basically create new4:37routines switch it up once in a while so a creative hobby could be dancing an intellectual hobby could be4:44reading a well-being hobby could be going to the gym and the connection hobby could be hosting game4:50nights with friends oh my god thank you so much that was so good of course that's good4:54you
